A great annual event for Sargent  and the Sargent Fire department plays such a central roll in the protection of Sargent Texas. The Tides and The rains came to Sargent these last two weeks and it is great to have this inflow of fresh water.  That combined with October Tides and you are setting up for big fall action. Redfish will invade backwater lakes in October and November months looking for food. They love these high tides and really get turned on this time of the year. This time of year use either dead shrimp with head on on leader with a slip sinker.  Also, a live mullet on the end of a blood red leader really gets them bonkers and wanting plenty of action. We had showers again last week and seems like the drought is just about over in different parts of the ecosystem. It seems like since Hurricane Ike it has been really dry in the Sargent area. Now showers and rain flush out the creeks and rivers that empty into the Bay. The Croaker are running larger and there are incredible amounts of juvenile red fish that are being caught along the coast. This is good for the bay. Wind Conditions Catching  more fish East Matagorda Bay. Wind Conditions can really affect the way we catch more fish around Sargent, Texas. Because of the shallow water conditions and the proximity to the Gulf of Mexico it is important to have some wind fishing strategies.
