Sargent Mitchell's Cut From The Air This week we take to the air over Mitchell's Cut in Sargent. I have been working on my boat. So instead of writing about Sargent we got you up in the air for a  birds eye view of Mitchell's Cut. Sargent Texas| Rainy weather for Ducks Happy New Year Ducks still quacking in Sargent Texas which has experience some well needed rains the last few weeks. Both the San Bernand Wildlife Preserve and Big Boggy have great conditions. Lets be honest the Ducks liked the rain more then the people of Sargent do.  We have lots  of freshwater passing Sargent and into East Matagorda Bay. Great for the Bay and ecosystem. Seafood Fest Comes to Matagorda Family event and lots of fun eating fish and enjoying music play bean bag and enjoying some really fresh seafood in Matagorda Texas. Gina and Buddy Treybig are putting on a really fun Sea Food Fest event in Matagorda Texas today.

In the Fall the North East Winds can disorient bait fish and shrimp  when they pass though near Sargent. Cool Fronts bring this kind of wind. This is a good thing. Bait can "stack up" in different parts of the bay. This attracts big fish. Look for birds check out south shore line and work the drift map This weekend look for drifts off South Shore. The Surf off Mitchell cut still producing fish and bait.  So all around Sargent tides Winds and plenty of fish. Look for some flounder starting to run with this new cool front. Remember  to count to 10 before setting your hook when you have flounder....

Sargent Texas is surrounded by some incredible wildlife  refuges. This insures incredible bird watching, hunting and fishing recreation around Sargent into the future.   These preserves include the San Bernard Wildlife Refuge to our east. Big Boggy to our west which included Dresser Point or Bird Island.  It is a major rookery for Pelicans and other seabirds. As you head north of Sargent along Cayney Creek to the east run into Dance Bayou Forested  Track which is one of the last great intact Bottomland Southern Forest left in the United States. Watch Tides this week.  I would  fish the surf around the Sargent Cliffs on the Beach. Trout also are good on live shrimp over shell in East Matagorda bay all week.  The Redfish run is starting to heat up around Mitchells cut too.  Reds are really starting to run. Croaker are hot now too. If you never caught a two or three pound croaker this could be your time of the year to do it. The Croaker run is going at full speed and they are huge.  The kids really love catching them. I do too. Sargent News Fishing Report East Matagorda Bay Fall 2014 Sarent news and fall fishing report for Novemeber 2014. We had showers again last week and seems like the drought is just about over in different parts of the ecosystem. It seems like since Hurricane Ike it has been really dry in the Sargent area. Now showers and rain flush out the creeks and rivers that empty into the Bay. The Croaker are running larger and there are incredible amounts of juvenile red fish that are being caught along the coast. This is good for the bay. The mixing of the Saltwater with the fresh water coming across the grassy meadows and deep bottom land forest. Water is the key to life. Oysters will be larger this year after...
